Schizophrenia & bipolar disorder including manic & major depressive episodes in bipolar disorder & prevention of recurrence in bipolar disorder in patients whose manic, mixed or depressive episode has responded to quetiapine treatment.
Adult Initially 25 mg bid w/ increases of 25-50 mg bid or tid to a target dosage range of 300-400 mg a day, in divided doses given bid-tid by the 4th-7th day. May adjust dose in increments or decrements of 25-50 mg bid at intervals of 2 days. Usual adult prescribing dose: 800 mg daily.
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not split/chew/crush.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Alzheimer's dementia; existing or history of breast cancer; CV disease (including conduction abnormalities, heart failure, MI & history or active ischemia); cerebrovascular disease; dehydration or hypovolemia, history of drug abuse or dependence, hypothyroidism, history of seizures. Hepatic or severe renal impairment.
